Looking Glass

She pierced her heart
On the second floor
We don’t go up there
Anymore.
With a knitting needle
Still in her grasp
Her diamond ring
By the looking glass.
She never left this place.
Her love was lost
In the first great war
I can hear her shuffle
‘cross the old wood floor.
I can see her peering
Through the window pane
As shadows
Darken the private lane
She never left this place.
She took her life
When she heard the news
A letter came
But it was no use.
Turns out he was found
The very next day.
By then his love
Had gone away.
But she never left this place.

Pendulum
04:00
|

You give me a pendulum
I watch it back and forth
It’s not like it was before
I don’t see you anymore
I’m transfixed by the sight
I throw myself into the water
I’m swimming to the light
What the sun was once before.
The tracks stops by the water
There are monsters after all
I can hear them
Crash and stumble
But they can’t hurt us anymore
I remember that old sun
The one I prayed to when I was younger
But once the skull's dissolved
You don’t need it any longer.
You could leave it up to chance
Set down roots on other planets
I don’t want to know
If it’s all the same
Hold me tight my son
Floating face down in the water
And so my spirit drowns
The dark river takes me over.
Lightning strikes the altar
In the desert by the Nile
A life born beyond time
A new image stokes the fire.
